For Homer defined as "daughters of Zeus", the Naiadi are nymphs of Greek mythology who preside over all the fresh waters of the earth and were often associated with the explanation of particular phenomena from which myths and legends arose that see them endowed with healing powers thanks to which the sick who drank the water from their sources could benefit from it.
From here the cult of the Naiads had great success and diffusion especially among the poorer classes and among the farmers who, to ingratiate themselves with them, offered flowers, fruit and milk.
